I notice a huge difference in a lot of things when I’m consistently taking Magnesium versus when I’m not. I’m going to list a few things that Magnesium help with, and which of those things that I’ve personally noticed a difference in. I’ll share a few magnesium supplements that I’ve tried out too!
But, it’s important to know the different magnesiums before choosing your supplement.
Magnesium Glycinate
- Supports sleep
- Gentle on the stomach
- Well-absorbed
Magnesium Oxide
- Stimulates digestive system
- Often used for cleansing
- Can cause stomach to be upset
Magnesium Citrate
- Supports digestion
- Easier on stomach
Magnesium Sulfate
- Ease muscle cramps
- Used topically
- Found in epsom salt
Ionic Magnesium
- Pure form of magnesium
Magnesium L-threonate
- Brain function and mood
- Easily-absorbed
For me, taking magnesium has helped me with stress, my mood, sleep, less muscle soreness after working out, better energy, and has tremendously helped with headaches.
My favorite type of magnesium is Ionic Magnesium, I’ve personally used this one from Trace Minerals
While this one is my favorite, it’s not the easiest to take and I found myself making excuses to not stay consistent in taking it. Not being consistent is not effective. You cannot take this by itself, you have to mix it with something. I would pour a shot of flavored sparkling water and then put my drops in the shot, it was still terrible and did not mask the taste. But, like I said this one is my favorite, it’s very effective when taken consistently.
Gummies are the easiest way for me to stay consistent. They’re a lot of magnesium gummies out there and trying to sort through them all will make your head spin. I’ve tried several and a lot of them have false advertising or do not list the exact ingredients.
This one from Nature Made has been my favorite gummy to take. This one is a Magnesium Citrate, so it doesn’t have all the benefits I would like, but it gets the job done and I can stay consistent with it.
